Magic Morning Rituals

I’m just curious… what are your morning rituals?

I’m not talking about black magic or juju or anything crazy like that. (LOL) I’m talking about the things  you do consistently when you first wake up in the morning, apart from the obvious things like brushing your teeth or taking a shower.

You probably know someone who wakes up in the morning and the first thing they check is their Facebook or the news. These people absorb everyone else’s crap and what’s wrong in the world today. They roll out of bed tired, miserable and without a purpose for their day. Not the best way to start your day is it?

Those are what I call junk morning rituals. If you practice junk morning rituals for long enough, you’ll quickly become disorganised, unhealthy and pissed off with life. I’m just being honest, and I’ve been there before. A healthy morning ritual will change your mental and physical state from negative to positive.

So what does a healthy morning ritual look like?

I’ll give an example of a morning ritual that I’m now following which consists of 4 simple steps.

1) Listen to some inspirational audio for 5 minutes (Tony Robins, Jim Rohn, Darren Hardy etc) or read a few passages from the bible or a book that really inspires you. I like books like The Slight edge or The Power Of Now…

2) Do 10 push ups (you can do chin ups, sit-ups  or both instead if you prefer)

3) Look at your visualisation board (you should have one)

4) Read your written goals and your to-do list for the day, imagining the feeling you’ll have when you’ve achieved them

(you should have somewhere that  your goals are written)

Follow these steps and they will set you up with optimism and excitement for the day ahead.

How? The sudden burst of exercise changes your physical state. Because your mind and  body are connected, you’ll get a pleasurable feeling and won’t feel as stressed.  The fastest way to change how you feel is to change how you move because emotion is created by motion.

I used to be that guy who used to wake up and check my email and Facebook first thing in the morning. I never used to change my mental state before I began my day, and rolled out of bed tired and miserable.

After watching a video from Tony Robbins that talked about changing your physical and mental state.  I decided to make a change, by adopting a new daily morning ritual. You should try it.
